Clyde-Cardinia Fire Station (1953)
|
The initial fire station was a galvanised corrugated
iron shed built in 1953.
The shed was built on Victorian Railways land leased to the Country Fire
Authority for a period of 99 years.
The shed was just sufficient to house the Brigade's tanker and some small
equipment. Seating was attached around the walls of the shed so that meetings
of the Brigade could be held in the building.
The shed remained in use by the Brigade until 1975 by when the first stage
of the current building had been completed.
